Extreme noob here! I have a Caviler CSS-8-64 that was working and I need to do some electrical work and turned off the breaker that it was plugged into and now it isn't cooling. The compressor is getting hot and the lower fan is running fine. Any ideas before I have to spend a small $ to have it looked at?  '>

Welcome Franchize! One question: Is your evaporator fan (the fan in the compartment where the bottles are) working? That should run all the time.

I was so excited to find this site!! And now I see the forums and the helpful participants.. I think I'm having kittens!
I was interested in this post especially.
I have what I believe to be a Cavalier 64 (I will verify his weekend).
This machine has been with me for 25 years and I am attached let's say.
Well to get to the point, it cools when I first plug it in but after reaching desired temp (has a adjustment dial), it never goes back into cooling mode. The fan continues but no refrigeration.
I have always assumed this was a thermostat problem, but what do I know.
Anybody have an opinion or some suggestions?
I'd really like to get this thing going again.

The compressor never comes back on no matter how long you wait? Is the compressor hot to the touch or does it try to start and just makes a grunt sound and a click? Are you talking about the fan next to the compressor continues, or the one inside the box? Is the condenser coil clean where you can through it?

I went home and plugged the machine in.
Started to clean it up and take pictures to share.
By the end of the night I could open the dispenser area door and feel cool refrigerated air coming out.
The next morning I opened the dispenser door and hot air (warmer than the ambient temperature) came out.
There is a fan running and air is circulating but the compressor never seems to start after the initial power up.
This has been the case for over a year or two.
As I mentioned I thought it might be the thermostat or a relay, but didn't want to make anything worse by poking my uneducated nose around the cooling operations.
Help and education appreciated.

Attached is the schematic attached to the inside of the cooler door if it helps. The
schematic is titled "Form 568 rev.5" and "Form 1076".
Oh, also I did verify that the model is CSS-8-64J.

I think that diagram is for lights and the vending mech. It sounds like if the machine cools then spits out warm air you have a bad T stat because the compressor isnt coming back on but I may be wrong.
post some pics! Squaretops are the best machines
