I was wondering why my NCR model S75 CONV 3 won't take nickels. I can drop them in, and they go almost all the way through, then hang up. I can stick something in there, and move the nickel, then it drops.

Question #2:

When I flip the switch to empty the coin return chambers, it kicks out 2 or 3 dimes at a time. Not always, but most of the time. The machine is set at 30 cents, and I don't want it kicking out .40 in change for 2 quarters.

BTW, quarters and dimes have no problem going through the mech.

Any help would be appreciated.

I think a thorough cleaning of the slug rejector may solve the nickel issue.

Does your change tube(s) hold dimes or nickels?
I'm not sure I understand your terminology, "coin return chambers"...

If your machine is set to .30 cents and you deposit 2 quarters, do you get 2 dimes back?

I mean change tubes, oops.

Oh, well, I was going to fill the tubes and see what it did with quarters, but when I plugged it in, the cord made a pretty sparkler show at the point of an old repair. I will get a new plug tomorrow. '<img'>

Try a little 000 steel wool in the coin paths and then throw the slug rejector in the dish washer. '<img'>
