Author Topic: Vendo 39 fan motor  (Read 4388 times)

Hi all, I recently purchased a pre 1955 Vendo 39 to restore. It has a Tecumseh (spelling?) compressor. The way it is wired makes the fan in the cooler compartment continually run. Is this right? Thanks for your help!

This is correct.
Some of these had disconnect switches installed so that when the cabinet door was opened, the evaporator fan stopped spinning for safety reasons.
Cabinet doors that could have this feature have a little tab that points down mid-way across the interior of the door just under the gasket. See diagram below:

Would it do any harm if I rewired the fan to turn off when the compressor turns off? In other words, it would be controlled by the thermostat...
