Vendo 81 Large Door; Large Door Problem

I am having a difficult time getting the large coin door to open and close properly.  Is there a certain number of shims (or offset required) that are needed behind the locking brackets, the locking bar is moving freely, just won't engage the brackets properly. Thanks.  M

        What I do is first install just one of the brackets, adjust and shim until the locking bar and the door fit snuggly.
Then I install and work with the second one.

Yes it's different each time..

I've been careful to take off the brackets and the shims from each one and baggy them until refinishing and reassembly, I put it back on the restored machine exactly as it came off and most of the times still don't fit right?  still have never been able to figure that one out..

so it's trial and error.. I always seem to have to put more shims in a restored machine than what it came with.

It's a mystery..

I was having same problem with my 81 door, just figured it was too late to be working!

I will try Glen's method...

I broke a few of them, so will order some more, thanks for the tips, it is the simplest task that seems the most frustrating with these things
