S-48 Dr Pepper Machine

What is an S-48 no glass door worth? I have a guy wanting $1200, but I feel that is way steep, even in TX. He claims it's in working original order and gets cold. I love the machine, but am not trying to burn money either. The sign on it is in great shape also. It seems to have original .06 decal above the coin door too. I really want one of these, just trying to do some homework first....

Hello and welcome! I gave $1000 for mine about 10 years ago in restored, working condition (in Florida). It's the one in my avatar. I used to see them pop up complete unrestored for around $500-$900 while I was in Texas quite frequently. For $1200 I would think it should be excellent original or nicely restored.
Are you looking for one in restored condition or one that needs fixing up? I may know of one that needs restoring in West Texas area.

Yes. I'm looking for one. I would be ok with one that needed restored, but was complete. I have a 96, just am looking for the 48. If you know of one you could put me in contact with that would be great.

S-48, I'd pay anywhere between $300-600. For $1200 I agree it should be in almost perfect condition. Be patient, they pop up a lot down here in TX. Make sure you are scouring the small town TX and OK craigslists.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to hold back and wait it out. I have other common machines I've been picking up, but am a huge DP fan and am just now getting to the point in life to start collecting them. I bought them to resell, but I like them all so much I've just decided to keep them...lol Good thing I'm young & single... I'm getting my toys while I can!
