Those Who Stay Will be Champions!

« on: September 27, 2012, 05:03:33 pm »

On another stop today, I ran across a couple of vintage pinballs.  They are supposedly complete but some assembly is required and one needs a new field glass.  I don't know a lot about these and neither did the owner so I told him I would see what I could find out.  Any info on age, value, etc would be appreciated.  I like the Gridiron game--wonder if it comes with replacement refs? biggrin

Gridiron is a 1969 Williams machine and Jockey Club is a 1954 Gottlieb machine.

If you are looking for "Blue Book" (or should I say Mr. Pinball) value then:
-Gridiron s actually a Football game (like a baseball game), not a pinball.  2010 value in nice condition is $675.

-Jockey Club has a 2010 value of $975.  There were a little over 1,000 made.

It looks like Gridiron is actually a Pitch & Bat. Does the Gottlieb machine have flippers? It won't help for value, but if you ever have a question about age, how many manufactured, or how a machine should look you can always check out the InternetPinballDatabase.

Gridiron has a bat I guess you would call it and the Jockey Club had small flippers.  What caught my eye is that the backglasses were both in pretty good condition.  The cabinets are so so but I think would clean up to average.

Cool machines but nothing I want to take on.  Just trying to help the guy determine a sales price.

Tim
Based on the pictures I'd say a Fair price would be $100 for Gridiron, and $400 for Jockey Club, or $500 for the pair. If I were trying to sell them I'd want to move them as a pair.
