Thought this would be cool got it in a email , Just think of all those parts that could be made from this,
machines that are rare  or hard to find parts. Cool  Oo  Oo

3D Printer !!!
This printer is used in "parts, assemblies, tools, packaging & containers" designs, for example plastic water bottles, before they actually manufacture the bottles. The designers have almost unlimited possibilities to design a 3D model of practically any object, print a 3D prototype to test in real life applications before the object is manufactured!

Pretty cool but I suspect there is a little more to the scanning and set up that they did not show on the video.  And, I imagine it is quite and expensive process!

It's pretty cool technology, My brother in laws archtictural firm has one that they print fully detailed 3d models of homes/ buildings for customers , so much more interesting than a blue print..

The printers alone cost them around $18,000

They are pretty neat machines. Here is a video I took of one that I saw a few years ago at the SkillsUSA national competition in Kansas City. They had this one on display in their trade show kind of thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlOibYgz0m8 My brother also told me that his school bought one at the end of the school year this year.
