Just finished my very first Stoner mech. It is for a customer - I've had people ask me about them before and I've always said that I have never done one but I was sure I could do it. Nobody has seemed to trust me with theirs until now. I think it turned out pretty good

I know you've probably covered this before, but do you send the parts off to be plated, or are you doing that at home?  All of your mechs look great when they come out.

I break it all down at home and strip some parts here as well, then take it all down to be plated professioinally.

The plating company can't have ANY trace of Cadmium plating in their tanks, so I have to strip all Cad plated parts before I take it in. Cadmium is that olive green color plating. If it is yellow zinc - I don't have to do any prep on it unless there is heavy rust, then I dip it here. Sometimes their automated process won't get all the rust if it is heavy. Vendo Coin Changers and Stoner mechs were assembled sometimes with solid steel rivets and sometimes with aluminum rivets, so I usually strip them at home also to minimize the chance of parts being lost if the acid eats the rivet away.

Very nice mech and helper!

I have a very advance Quality Control Department with all sorts of check and balances!  tounge
He loves to test my rejectors for me.  biggrin
