My first introduction to this world was with a V83 that someone gave me.. big machine and not very practical for home use.

   So Ken , what your saying is that person did not like you all that well then

I'll still buy a Vendo 83. I am just not going to pay through the nose for the honor of doing so. The exterior cabinet will work as a replacement for any 110 I run across that may be a little rusty around the belt line. And they don't look all that bad. I relate it to the tri five chevys getting all the praise during the 70's  while the 58 chevys got sent to the bone yards, guess what, now the 58's are in demand and because of their early demise there aren't so many left. Ok, maybe that's a stretch.
