Title: Tecumseh Compressor pinout made easy.
Post by: johnieG on April 01, 2008, 09:25:36 pm
here's a tip for knowing what pin is what on a Tecumseh compressor.  added an OHMS test picture to help 'yall test for open start-run windings...and it only took 6years!

That info helps, what compressor does a Cavalier 72 have?  The pin placement is a triangle with the single post on top, and the wiring diagram says start, run, common, is that the same as the tecumseh?

Thank you, johnie. Might I add, if any of these three terminals is grounded through the compressor case, the compressor is bad and will need to be replaced.

Isn't that right?

You are correct sir.. any reading from the (isolated) terminals to ground ( or the bare metal case of the compressor) it's done for (the compressor) unless you don't have a ground pin on your line cord, then it will be the end of the road for you.  :wow:

This might seem a bit hokie, but for either pin out configuration I just remember that the word "compressor"  starts with a "C", ends with an "R",  and has an "S" in between.  Moving, right to left and top to bottom, both pinouts go from Common, to Start, to Run.  So it starts with a C, ends with an R, and has an S in the middle.

Sounds like an episode of Sesame Street, but always works for me.
