Title: Vendo V23  spintop
Post by: johnieG on July 20, 2007, 10:52:21 am
So I was sub-contracted to  restore a Vendo V23/spintop for a local gameroom customer who sold the machine to Coca-Cola of Detroit , Coke is going to be presenting the machine to some other corporate big-wig who is retiring soon,  I never had so much trouble locating parts for such a simple little machine!

It seems that the inside bottle holder/ honeycomb drum  and the coin mech assy. are hard items to come by, but thanks to some local SMC board contacts we managed to locate the elusive parts just in time!
( thanks to Randy & Ron!) here are some quick pics of the machine before it headed out the door to the sign-painters for lettering.

the only question I have is the coinmech came without a 10-cent slug rejector, so which model fit's this puppy? I was told that it's the same as a Jacobs 26,  but it looks to be about the same dimentions as a Glasco rejector, the Ideal rejector is too short & puts the accepted dime out of the wrong (right-hand side) of the mech..anybody know?

PS be warned! that removal & reinstallation of the bottle drum is a real pain in the A$$ as the refrigeration lines are physically attached to the inside drum with aluminum brackets that are spot-welded to the skin of the drum ( a whole lot of drilling them out!)

You know. I really like those 23's. I had the chance to buy one once. Had sat in a barn in UK for 20yrs and probably in a barn in the US for 20 yrs before that. The seller wanted $2000 so I said "no thanks".

I need a break... Something has gotta show up soon. Plse..

Or at least find a complete 23 for restoration.

Yes, the Jacobs is the same as the Glasco which is
also the same as the V-39 and small door 81 and 110 and VMC 27 and 33 and 72 and Selectivends & more.

What Leonard has is really a 5 cent mech, it's the same body as the others but lacking the 10 cent sorting mechanism on the back.

I have a 5 cent stainless steel Canadian rejector that should work if you need one.

Hello,Glen

                  I have a Question  ??? I don't know much abought Machines execpt I Like em  :p .I don't restore them And I really DON'T do ay Electrial work .

But HOW do you tell that the coin meck I pictured for the V-23 is a Nickel ???
Because I can't get a Nickel to even go down it .Plus the slot at the bottom will only accept a Dime . And a Dime works Perfect every time .From top to Bottom .
Again I really  DON'T know anthing abought Coin Mech .

Is there Manuals that Show how they Work ? And Which is for a Nickel & Dime & So on ?? I had JohnieG do one for my C-55E-2 Last year .But That did'nt fix My Problem with the machine . The Quarter's & Dime's & Nickel's still fall threw & the switch to push to vend Bottle dose nothing . The ONLY way I can Make the Motor vent is to Manualy trip the Coil in the Housing on the inside that has 3 coils enclosed in it .
Again I just Buy em. As long as the Cooling System works I'm Happy  :D

Leonard,
You have a dime rejector, but it is an odd and HTF rejector.
I ended up using a nickel rejector on mine and filing down the slots on the coin plate to accept a nickel.
The problem is that the coin MUST exit the rejector on the front and most dime rejectors exit on the back.
I have not figured out why there are soooo many V23's out there, yet nobody parts them out.
