Title: Not for the purists!
Post by: seper8tor on August 29, 2020, 11:40:45 pm
So I recently purchased a Vendo 56 and have been loving the look and size of it.  If there was anything I would change would be to have it have a little more pizzaz and light up like my other machines.  So I went on Amazon and got this LED kit:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NWFVRY4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I attached it inside the bottle door in the niche just to the right of the bottle gates using the included adhesive strips.

I connected the transformer to terminals that supply power to the compressor and viola, light up 56!

Nothing was permanently changed on the machine, nor were puppies, kittens or babies harmed in the process of this modification!

I like it. Plus, it has a remote. I see you can control the speed of the color changes. Can you lock onto any color and just have the one color display?  Usually, I get annoyed when colors constantly change. I do like a slow fade. Still, very cool. If I had a 56 0r an 81 A or B, I’d install them.

Did you have extra lights or did they all fit in your track?

Larry.

Looks very nice!  I prefer the blue myself as it looks “Icy “

In the past I’ve added orange mini automotive neon light sticks around the base of an Orange Crush Slider which gave it a colorful glowing highlight on the surrounding floor area.  Pat Pixleys also done similar retro lighting, and myself I’ve installed led lighting behind the bottle rack on many machines that didn’t have a bottle door light option.

Yes it has individual buttons for the different static colors and they stay that way even if you unplug and re-plug the machine.  Must have a chip somewhere that holds data on the last color active.  There are other colors I didn't show in the pictures like purple, yellow, orange.  I haven't even tried any modes with color changing as that annoys me as well. The kit had just the right length of LED's to fit in the niche so I had nothing left over. I just like it because it was a fun, easy and cheap mod.

No shame in adding a light kit to a 56. I've done it to Cavalier 72s and Stoner Candy Machines. Thanks for sharing.
