Title: Vendo 81A Condensation Drain Tube Removal
Post by: vintagevendo on August 10, 2020, 10:10:48 am
What is the best way to remove the Condensation Drain Tube ... that is soldered to the Cabinet Liner on a Vendo 81A ???
Once you cut off the bent section of the tube below the Cabinet Floor ... without removing the Liner ... how do you remove the remaining straight section of the Tube that is soldered to the Liner ???
Does the solder have to be heated/melted ???
Any help or tips would really be appreciated ...
Thanks !!!

it's typically held in place by soft-solder ( tin/lead) you can remove it with a standard propane torch, wearing thick cotton or leather gloves, or use a small piece of wood to apply upward pressure on the bottom end of your "tail-piece" of the tube, now quickly "brush" the flame back & forth across the top-side drain hole & it will pop up once it's hot enough, don't let the torch sit too long in on spot as you could toast your insulation inside the underneath of the liner.

don't grab the loosened drain-tube too quickly with bare hands or fingers, it'll be quite hot for a few moments afterwards.
