Title: vmc V33 compressor deck restoration
Post by: johnieG on June 20, 2020, 04:19:52 pm
Just a quick show n tell ... this is a customers deck out of his VMC V33, he had me restore it & I ended up modifying the evaporator motors mounting position in order to use a standard unit-bearing motor in place of the old 3.3" top mount unit, I just had to cut off the side-mounting flanges in order to allow the motor body to fit inside the evaporator coils and I used a end-mount adapter in order to mount it underneath the coils instead, ( very similar to a Vendo V39 setup) I think it turned out rather nice. it's rewired with a modern wiring harness & everything was media blasted & powder coated appropriate colors ( but no pink deck base please  ) and a  nice 15 HP Embraco compressor & conversion to R134A as well.

here's some before & after pics, the evap coils were falling out of the blower housing because the three 4" mounting rods had rotted away, causing it to tip & pin the fan blades & burning out the evap' motor. While the original pancake compressor did run in a fashion, it wasn't able to provide enough compression to work the freon ( low high end pressure)

Before pics....
