Title: VMC 27 Counter Top
Post by: Victor on April 24, 2018, 03:15:07 pm
Does anybody out there know what the doors are made of and the bottle carage , like pot metal or aluminum.  Need to find some solution  to dip them in to clean.  Thanks  Victor

My choice would be to send it to a local powder-coater and have them media blast and spray a color you like w/ clear on top...
But to answer your question, I believe they are aluminum.

Victor, the split doors on the 27 were aluminum.  I have no idea how the factory actually painted them but I found them unbelievably difficult to remove the paint.  Tried dipping, not much help.  did not sand blast.  I did however primed them, wet sanded, then sprayed 6 coats of silver wet sanding in between each coat.  The result was fabulous, although the process was drudgery.
