I have no idea how the factory actually painted them but I found them unbelievably difficult to remove the paint. Tried dipping, not much help. did not sand blast. I did however primed them, wet sanded, then sprayed 6 coats of silver wet sanding in between each coat. The result was fabulous, although the process was drudgery.
