Title: 1958 Vendo 6 Case Vertical E110L
Post by: felix55 on August 10, 2017, 06:30:00 pm
Hi-New first time Coke machine/cooler owner.  I had been looking for a 1956 Vendo E110 for a couple years. I wanted the 56 because it was the last and only year that had the famous white top, so I had read. I found this unit on Ebay. The Id plate said it was a 1958. I negotiated a price and had it shipped. The full code is a E110L. I found another unit that sold some years ago that sold that was a 1958 as well. I plan to get it restored when I get enough pennies saved! If anyone can deceipher the Vendo codes or knows why there are some post 56 models, I would be interested to know.
If anyone else has a post 56 or L code model please post or message.

Nice first machine. Although it's hard to tell from the one picture but you might be able to clean that thing up pretty nice where you might not need to restore it. Use those pennies to buy soda and beer to fill it.  :happydrinkers:

I'm all about the soda and beer fund!  I wanted to keep it original, but some surface rust and rot on the door makes me question that.  I read a post that said moisture caught in the old insulation causes rust from inside out.  Not sure what's going on under the chrome bands either.  I used Bull Frog rust remover on some other areas with good results.  Any tips on preservation over restoration?

Lacquer thinner, rubbing compound, wax and a few drinks can do wonders  :happydrinkers:

I wouldn't spend the $ on painting it, it should clean up really nice. If the rust isn't too bad, a por-15 kit will encapsulate it so it's no longer a threat on the inside, new insulation is a must. Polish the stainless and that baby will shine!

I'd clean it up first and see how it looks. They're only original once. If after a couple months you decide you want to restore it then go at it.
Nice 110. Those are great machines.

Nice looking 110-looks original.   My thought would be to clean it up, leaving it as much original as possible, then live with it for awhile and see how it looks.
