Title: Oronite Lighter Fluid Dispenser
Post by: HowDueYouDue on January 28, 2017, 07:24:21 pm
Came across this today and I know just enough about them to be dangerous. Sellers asking $800 which seemed high but not obscene. Hoping another member has one or knows about them.

Appreciate and all advice on it and value.

Thank you.

Yikes! Have never seen such a thing. Would think display only. One to many zero's in the price for me.

On the $800.00 one it looks like the glass globe has been replaced.

or has the $500 globe been replaced.. I kinda like the screen globe better though I have no idea which is original or what...
But I do know now to keep an eye out for this thing that's a lot of money.

I believe the one at auction had the globe replaced as it says "restored" in the ad and I have come across some images online of others with the mesh.

Thanks everyone for their feedback

These were a counter display with lighter fluid that was visible in the globe, much like the gas pumps of similar vintage. the mesh around the glass protected it from breakage. If the one you found is all original, that would be a prize. The price is pretty stiff though.

They had some neat stuff back in those days.
