Title: Good place to restore Cavalier CSS-141G Near Tulsa, OK
Post by: drexton311 on April 29, 2016, 08:32:14 pm
Newer member here and I would love some input from the experienced guys (and gals) on here.  I have a Cavalier CSS-141G that I believe has a bad compressor and is missing a few items.  I'd say its 90% there.  Anyway, I know you are going to tell me this machine is too big for personal use, but this particular one has a lot of memories for me as I use to buy bottles out of this very machine as a small kid.  It was given to my uncle, then to me.  Enough of the history...  I would like fully to restore it but do not have the time or experience to do it myself.  Does anyone know of a reasonable shop near Tulsa, OK that can handle this job?

Thanks a bunch!
Josh

There are some very good restorers that are members here. I'm sure someone will offer advice etc.
Can't help you i'm afraid. Too far away.

Welcome to the board Josh.
Any work on the compressor is going to be 300.00 - 500.00. After that, a restoration could add $1500.00 and upwards.
We all have our favorite machines, but is it worth it to you to plunk a couple thousand or much more into your machine, then when it's all done, it's worth $400.00 (if that)?

That's the thought for the day.  :drinking:

        Excellent advice for everyone!

Your best bet is to look around your own home town for any glass door machine like the Cavalier 64/80/96 etc.
that looks ugly but has a working cooling system. It will take you less tha 30 minutes to swap compressors.
