Title: Vendo 81 a 6 cent coin mech
Post by: hacksaw707 on February 14, 2016, 08:04:58 pm
What is the procedure for depositing the coins, one before the other, both at the same time? Any and all info appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

I would go with 5 cent first than the penny. Both at once might jam the mech. Hope others chime in.

Penny then nickel per this machine.

I don't think it matters because the penny and nickle should fall through different slots at the bottom of the rejector. I also doubt that you would be able to deposit both at the same time, but if the slot is worn and will accept both, sure, they may jam up.

Thanks guys,

The coin mech needs some adjusting I guess as booth coins just drop right through.

It doesn't matter which goes first - different coin paths.

The penny gets stuck at the top of the mech, the nickle sometimes goes through. Any suggestions?

Need to know where the penny gets stuck, at the top of the rejector, or after the rejector when it enters the actual coin mechanism. The rejector is at the top, with the slides and rotating carriers. The coins go through the rejector, then into the proper slots in the coin mech.

I have a six cent VMC 72 and the coins go through the rejector and fall into a slot of the coin mech.  The coins push up on levers or cams which allows the handle to rotate and vend.  If you are missing one coin, that lever will not lift and the handle will jam and not rotate.  I haven't looked at it in over twenty-five years, but I believe that's how the VMC 72 6 cent machine worked.

Either coin any direction, lol, will work.

When I was in my teens I bought this and decided to spray the coins with WD-40 before I put them through so it can lubricate the coin mech.   :Oo: That's what I called the rejectors back then.  Yep, that was stupid.  I never had an issue and I never cleaned it afterwards.  I definately wouldn't recommend that. This was just a stupidity story for grins.

If my rejector is acting up I usually take it apart, clean it, and polish the metal.  I just got my jukebox rejector to work.  I was told that the dimes and nickles never worked in it....they do now.

I'd take the rejector out and give it a good cleaning as larry suggests... lots of crud gets built up in these. some hot water, simple green and a toothbrush will work wonders!

Thanks for the replies, soaked it simple green and water, giving it a a good cleaning. I will see what happens. The penny is hanging up on the washer pin.

The pennies are getting stuck at the magnet, I pulled and cleaned this area but they are really tight. I can push them through ; but they can't pass on the there own. I'm trying to figure out how to post pictures on this site......

Hmmm, are they the newer zinc pennies. I didn't think they were magnetic. Try using pennies made before 1982.
I'll have to get an older rejector out and try it.

I've tried many different years of coins, they just won't pass through the magnet????

There is a pinned post at the top of the General Chit Chat page that discusses file attachment sizes.
its fairly easy once you figure it out.

Is the door on your rejector missing a stop at the end opposite the hinge side? If the coins are sticking at the magnet, it may be that the door is not allowing enough clearance. Did this situation just start?

Send whatever photos you have to cjs@lost-coast-designs.com. Will resize and post for you.
Simple Green if not scrubbed and rinsed well leaves a mess. Try hot water and an old toothbrush to get all clean. If no air compressor a hair dryer on high to dry.

At lot of times it just takes a few try's to get the bits working.

unless your worried about kids or friends sticking slugs in there, you could just remove the magnet?

Rejector is complete, I never tried it before I tore the machine down for restoration, it was in storage for 30 years. I will set it to free vend, but would like it all to function properly for piece of mind. Knowing my friends they just might try a slug to get a free beer  I'll try tonight to figure out the pics one way or another.

Thank you for all the help, this site is GREAT!

There is no magnet on the back side of a nickel/penny rejector - just a cover plate. Sounds like you actually have a nickel/dime slug rejector.
Glen - married does not equal no housework. Wish it did, but it is not going to fly around here. And I've never put a slug rejector through the DW. Others have with some degree of success I guess. I break them down completely.
