Title: Acton Coolerette Stand
Post by: ajf5577 on January 31, 2016, 04:57:34 pm
I've continued this in a new post from another thread.
These are pics of my Acton Coolerette Stand. I've owned two of them. Sold one 20 years ago.
They are embossed Coca Cola. The stencilling wasn't first rate as seen in the pic. They are marked Acton just like the A1 coolers. There was a flyer for these floating around in the 90's. I knew who had it, but the two guys started fighting and now ?
This one was in the garage as I do not have any restored coolers to set on it, plus I am not as lucky as some of you guys. She won't even let me bring the 7up 81 into the house.

Vintage Vending has an ad for the Action Collerette Stand:

This was a smaller folding type of flyer touting the cooler and stand, as I recall.  The one from V V is an ad out of one of the trade magazines.

Not many people have seen one of these. They must not have been very popular. I really doubt if there were other brands done, but that would be great.
I know of two Coca Cola stands, because I had them at the same time. I wonder if anyone will step forward with another?

I mentioned in the other thread that a friend of mine has one but it's restored. I don't remember the Acton stamped anywhere though. Next time I go see him I will check and snap a photo.

Let us know what you find Ray. I really doubt if there are only two of them. There have to be more.....

Jeff W had it shown in his book and only two showed up in the early 90's. I don't think the Schmidts had one, but they weren't really into coolers.

So the Aluminum Acton and Progress coolers go on every camping trip. Anyone found stands in the textured aluminum?
Thanks!

I think the looks of these were very cool and Walters book states that all originals were embossed.

The drawback on reproducing this stand is it only fits certain coolers, and they have to be Acton.
I think there could be a larger market if a simple universal non-enclosed picnic cooler stand were produced.

How could that be effected? For stability the cooler bottom lip sits down over the top edge of the stand. Are you thinking of a stand where the cooler just sits on top of the Stand?
