Title: Progress Cooler Liner Removal
Post by: tkaz on January 28, 2013, 05:30:21 pm
I picked up another Progress A1 Pepsi Cooler, and I am going to do a restoration on this one.  First step was to remove the liner, so I took some photos to help some folks if you decide to try this at some point.

I ran a chisel tip across the bottom of the seam to give a better surface to lift.  Then I was able to start lifting each of the seams by inserting a thin bladed flathead screwdriver at each corner, that was followed by a wider flat bladed scraper.  The goal was to minimize the stretching of the seam, working all the way around in 1/4" increments.

After the seams were done, I removed the drain plug assembly, and with a little coaxing the liner pulled straight out.

Next up, cleaning it all out and stripping the paint.

Sweet now that I see how it comes apart I can finally restore that cooler I have just sitting in the garage.

I recently got my first picnic cooler (same model and soda co. as this one). Iwas googling how to disassemble it and ran across this forum. Thanks for the detailed pics. Did you happen to finish restoring it?

Thanks,
Chris
