Title: WC44 Door Lock Removal
Post by: ss540 on September 24, 2009, 09:58:05 am
I am breaking down a WC44 cabinet for painting and I cannot figure out how to get the door lock out.  The barrel is still in the door, with a thin nut and star washer on the back side.  I cannot get a wrench on the thin nut to loosen it.  The cylinder is apparently missing, but the "screw" portion of the lock is there and I can insert an allen wrench in it to turn it.  I see two shallow grooves in the barrel portion, but I don't have a tool that will fit in them.

Are there special tools for this job and are replacement locks available?  I didn't see this lock in Funtronics catalog.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I do not have easy access to my WC-44 to help with the lock - sorry!
You might check with Steve Jebb at www.sodajerkworks.com
I know he has reproduced some of the WC-44 parts, but not sure what all he made. I know he did the coin door liner and possibly the main door liner.
I have some misc parts like the Sold Out Plunger and SO Flag - maybe a coin box, condensation pan and cap catcher too if you need them.
And I have coin mechs and coin mech parts.

Thanks, I will check with Steve.

Most of the other parts of the machine are in good condition, the bottle vend mech works and the coin changer functions well.  The refrig unit only gets down to 40 f and the evap frosts up.  May be low freon or low air flow, but the fan motor seems to work OK.
