Title: Vendo 63 cools to 40 degrees Post by: glassbuggy on August 20, 2009, 09:51:05 am I'm restoring a 1960 v63. It is working , but only cools to 40 degrees. What would cause this condition? Bad t'stat?
The compressor cools it to 40 then it kicks back on at 60 (if that helps) I pulled it out of the machine to restore the 63, but am unsure of the procedure on cleaning up a working refrigeration unit since they don't come apart. What are your restoration procedures ? Sounds like you may have a refrigerant issue though.
The machines should cycle 2-3 times an hour and maintain a temp between just above freezing. Coke recommended the cycle range to be between 32 & 38 degrees. Title: Re: Vendo 63 cools to 40 degrees Post by: johnieG on August 20, 2009, 10:30:03 am just a note.......The cooling system should be tested while installed inside the machine with the door closed, if you attempt to trouble-shoot the system on the bench in the open air, you'll get screwy readings.
Typical readings will range from 32-45 degrees-F depending on were the thermostat is set, if your machine is cycling normally, but the temperature range is higher say 40-55 degrees-F you may have a bad thermostat, ( if it looks original) or possibly the wrong type of thermostat installed in the machine, ( if it looks like it's been replaced with a newer t-stat) or the sensing tip of the thermostat is misplaced |
