Title: vmc 33 D
Post by: zadd on June 27, 2009, 08:36:51 pm
Restoring a vmc 33d and the unit cooled until I cleaned it up with CLR and must of cleaned it to well because one of the condenser outer coils must of had some thin pitted rust spots that turned into small pinhole leaks . I tried to have them fixed but the cooper was to far gone and ended up chasing pinholes because the cooper was so impure and gone . I have a vendolater 56 unit that cools . Question should I just swap out the condensers or use the complete deck off off the 56 and change out the evaporator ? I hate to rune this 56 unit to get the condenser off of it but it would be cheaper than buying a new unit . Any thoughts

Keep the 56 unit intact and just replace the 33 condenser with a similar one.

Your 33 had single row coils in the condenser, the 56 and many others have a
double row of coils which may create a space problem.

I order a condenser for a 1/6 h Tecumseh and it came back as a single coil condenser and is half the size as the one that came off of it (coils) Any problem with using this one or should I tell the guy to get me one that looks like the original . He just order a condenser for a 1/6h unit . off the compressor tag I gave him .
