Title: Spray Can Coke Red
Post by: tkaz on June 01, 2009, 09:33:23 am
Does anyone have a good idea on if anyone makes a red that is close to Coke red in a spray/rattle can?  I was able to find a Krylon reference on the Happ Controls site, 29-1013-10C, listed as Coke Red.  I'm looking to just spray a coin door on a mid-70's CSS-64, so color matching isn't that big of a deal.

Or...since my new paint gun is in the mail, is there a good way to buy a small amount of off the shelf Coke red from any of the distributors, maybe a pint or so of it?

Over the years there has been more than 25 different "Coke Reds" Your best bet is to take a piece of your machine to an automotive paint store that can scan the color and match it. I think they can make spray bombs as well.

if there is no place that is able to do scanning around you you can always take a small piece into the paint store and try to match it as close as possible. But don't trust people saying they have cans of "Coke" red as it is a 1 in 25 chance it is correct and most likely it is the much darker red of the 50's compared to the orangish red of the late 60's and early 70's
