Title: Getting the bug.
Post by: Larry on May 18, 2009, 09:04:40 pm
A month or so ago I started going through my projects and I decided to finish a few this spring.  So far I have taken apart my Northwestern dual nut machine and I am in the process of putting it back together.  It is an uncommon machine, but they are out there.  Here's what I have so far.  A pile of junk.

When it's back together I will post some pics.

That remote is to mute the wife when she comes downstairs.

Music....it's for Music.....I can't work without it.  My wife always ask "How can you concentrate with the music on?"  "How can you not?", I say.

I was going to buy a amplifier for my Wurlitzer Princess CD player, but they were too much for the little they do.  My boss had an old Kenwood receiver, from the eighties, and gave it to me.  So now I can listen to the Juke, or the radio.  Music is my coffee!!

I agree Larry, I have music in every room of the house, the garage, the shop and the backyard, the deck. etc..  It's always on and can't concentrate without it...

I finished the 1940's Northwestern Dual nut machine.  The heater was shot so I revamped it a little.  It is a pretty neat machine.  I have only seen two others.  One with a stand and one without.  I like it because you can get two turns for a nickel and four turns for a dime.  You can mix and match your nuts.  One turn from the left and three from the right, two and two, or three turns from the left and one from the right, on a dime purchase.

The original cup holders were metal and the cup sizes are non existing.  So I put on an old Dixie Vortex holder on it instead.  I like it better anyway.

Too bad the pictures look crapy.  I can never take a good picture in my basement.  Whoops, did I call it a basement.....I mean Lar's lair.

I'm the same way.... screw the tv.. If it was up to me, it would be music all day long. I've got 3 zones outside, and my whole house and garage..

I'm glad you guys liked it.  It is a neat nut machine.  I have a Little Nut Hut that I have been using for cashews and mixed nuts.  I think I'll put pecans and pistachios in the dual nut machine.

Ken the machine in the back is a 1936 Evans Rolletto Jr. console slot.  I had it for sale a few weeks ago.  I have one person who wants it but he wont pick it up until the Chicago show.  I haven't commited to the sale yet, because a guy at work mentioned that his cousin might want it.  I told him that I will give him until today to Monday (today) to let me know.  I'd rather sell it now, I just bought a cigar machine and I would like to use the money for part of that purchase.

Here's a video on the Rolletto Jr.

It's been so long since I started on this I forgot to mention   a very special THANKS to Brian B for bead blasting the insides of the machine where the product goes.  It was rusty and I didn't want any food to be mixed with the rust.

Brian the Flitz I used is still keeping even the smallest amount of surface rust off.

Thanks again!!! :happydrinkers:

Everyone needs a little iron in their diet!

Looks great! I would like to get a hot nut machine sometime!

Larry,

That's great to hear that the Flitz worked like you expected it to. I'm just happy to see that you got you very cool machine back together, glad I could help!
