Title: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: cokentn on February 28, 2009, 11:00:27 pm My light in the front door, the big one behind the big red logo is flickering, like it's getting ready to go out.
I've never had it out, and I've never changed one either. I don't see any screws to remove the cover. How/where to remove/what size bulbs and such goes on here? Thanks! Mark Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: MoonDawg on March 01, 2009, 11:05:03 am First, open the coin door and look up under the liggh panel. If you don't see
2 screws or wingnuts then open the main door and look on the top or side for them. Once they are removed the panel will need to be pryed out as it's a tight fit. As for the bulb..............remove it and take it with you to your lighting store. Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: collecture on March 01, 2009, 12:35:58 pm If I were you, I'd go ahead and install a new ballast and starter while you are at it. Cost is $10-$15 total and you'll have no problems for a long while!
Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: cokentn on March 01, 2009, 09:14:17 pm I found two small phillips screws on the bottomside of the sign. Actually, the are up in two small holes that I didn't see before.
Now..they are just not budging and I don't want to strip them. There is about 3-4 inches of clearance between them and the strip/panel thing with the drink buttons on it. It flips down. I guess I'll have to remove that thing, so I can get a longer phillips up in there and tap em? dunno... WHY would they make that so hard to get to? IN 1971 were people stealing Coke lightbulbs? :darn: Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: Pat Pixley on March 01, 2009, 11:55:25 pm What kind of machine is it ? Vendo or Cavalier
If Cavalier they have to screws on the main door then the Frame for the Marquee has two pins . Vendo's have the screw on the under side when you open the coin door. I would change the whole thing out , this is what I did. I think I took this from Josh and ran with it. Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: loman4ec on March 02, 2009, 12:21:10 am Yep that is what I use. It is much easier then replacing the balast, starter and bulb. Just go to home depot and instal a new lighting fixture.

Not many were made. Here is my album: http://soda-machines.com/g2/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=3379 Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: cokentn on March 09, 2009, 06:42:01 am I was finally able to get that off and get to the bulbs. It was odd. The screws that held it in place were not the ones I thought would be. One was actually a wire holder as well as one to hold that front cover in place.
I will try later today to get those replacements. I did get the ballasts out too, they were FS-25. The bulbs are F25T12CW-78. I hope they still make those. Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: Pat Pixley on March 10, 2009, 09:41:47 pm Mark we also have to find you a coin catcher, the tin can just does not
look right :tounge: .It is a great looking machine other than that . Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: cokentn on March 10, 2009, 10:06:09 pm Hey...what's wrong with my tincan? LOL
It came in it. Give's it character! I'm legalizing the fact I can't find a real one. :) I found the bulbs and should get them tomorrow..at a local hardware store NOT a chain store like Lowes. hmmm. Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: BrianB on March 12, 2009, 06:00:14 am Mark,
I think you might find that for a lot of hardware (screws & related stuff) and electrical items that your older, well established corner hardware store will have a better selection to choose from vs. the big box stores like Lowes, Home Depot and Wal-Mart. Title: Re: Help needed changing litebulbs... Post by: cokentn on March 12, 2009, 06:18:46 am Thanks! I got the bulbs in there and she's lit up and cooling perfectly. Although, ice is on it's way in the weather, I could just open the door and they'd stay cool. :glare:
Now, if anyone knows where i can get a coinbox? |
