Title: needs freon Post by: vintage_car on February 28, 2009, 10:24:50 am I know to be somewhat leery when a seller says the machine runs but needs freon, but for the sake of discussion, if the machine "Just needed freon" how is that added and where do you get it?
Title: Re: needs freon Post by: MoonDawg on February 28, 2009, 12:33:31 pm The real question is why does it need freon? Compressor systems are not like
old tires that slowly leak air after many years. A refrigeration system is sealed and usually a punctured line is the cause. The leak must first be found and repaired before adding freon or it will dissapate again. Pricing for a basic system leak repair & a proper system evacuation & recharging ( with no other components replaced) is aprox. $175.00 around here. ( The Metro-Detroit area)
