Title: Insulation question Post by: choice120 on February 05, 2009, 06:03:50 pm I was given an almost full roll of R13 faced. Do you think I can use this to insulate my squaretop 56. I will remove the face and then double up the insulation. What are your thoughts because I know you guys use r19 but its a shame to waste a whole roll of free insulation. Thanks

I always buy faced insulation and remove the paper as I have found that it is cheaper. Just get as much insulation in there as you can. It will condensate if you miss any areas.

Remember insulation works by trapping pockets of air. When insulation is compressed, it can no longer insulate and it’s R valve is dimished. If the R19 is too thick and you stuff it in there anyway, it’s proably about the same as using R13.
