a 4 watt night light (C-7 size) isnt rated for horizontal use & the filiment wont stand up to the vibration caused by the machines compressor ( the filiment will fail as you've found out) go to Lowes or Home depot & get an indicator lamp in an  S-6 size /7 to 10 watt size. it has a heavy duty filiment, also if you can get a lamp with a 130-volt rating it will stand up to rough duty service.  :darn:

I've found that the Ace hardware brand  night light bulbs don't last very long in pop machines . You have to spend a little more and get the name brand and they will last about a year  . But I have always use 4w-7w nightlight bulbs with no problem . You might make sure the bulb tip doesn't touch the metal when you snap it back in place . Make sure there's a little space between the boby and the bulb . Its kinda like water dripping on it .

There are 12V and 120V versions of the C base 7W bulbs. If you're buying the 12V version that may be the source of your problem.
