Title: Re: login issues Post by: dr galaga on January 26, 2009, 08:26:18 pm I have not had any problems from home (I'm always logged in). I am away at a conference right now and it took me a few times to log in on my laptop (make that about 10-12 times). I was able to login on the main site fine, but over here on the forum I almost gave up!
Title: Re: login issues Post by: bubba on January 26, 2009, 09:19:25 pm I am always logged in as well normally. I had no trouble on the portal page, but in the forums here it took many tries... It wouldn't let me reset a password either.
Title: Re: login issues Post by: Jim on January 26, 2009, 10:25:34 pm I'm not sure I can reproduce this issue as I have logged out numerous times and re-logged in without incident...
Since communication between the Main Site and our Discussion Areas is faulty due to a previous upgrade, I have found psswrd changes can be problematic from time to time... Ken, Are you still having difficulties logging in on the Discussion Areas...? One suggestion I've been passing along to new registrations is to log in on the Home Page and then proceed to the Discussion Areas log in. Title: Re: login issues Post by: Creighton on January 26, 2009, 10:32:17 pm Had to clean up the hardrive on one of the computers I use to log in. "Cookie's" deleted.
Long story short. When you request a new password from SMC that works for main login but still need to use your old password to get into the disscussion groups. Took awhile to sort this out. Maybe Jim can clarify what is going on. Creighton Title: Re: login issues Post by: bubba on January 26, 2009, 10:36:53 pm Yep... it just happened to me again.. I finally was able to log in using this link.... http://soda-machines.com/discussions/index.php. But If I clear cookies and try to log in again, I have issues. I can log in to the main site. When I go to the discussion areas, I have to log in again and thats where I have issues. It doesn't accept the password and when I request a new password, it takes me to a page that says you have to log in to use that page.
Title: Re: login issues Post by: Creighton on January 26, 2009, 10:42:23 pm Same loop I was caught up in :-( Try any old passwords you may have used. As admin can you just reset the whole deal?

Title: Re: login issues Post by: pinballdude on January 26, 2009, 11:31:01 pm I have had probs for months!
My prob is... login from home page, get a mssg. "You have logged in successfully" Click OK Go to discussions, top says "welcome guest" I log in again, get mssg that my password is wrong (I haven't changed it!) I log in ONCE MORE with the SAME password since home page... I'm IN!! FINALLY!!! sheesh! Note that this is only when I delete cookies, otherwise I am always logged in. Terry Title: Re: login issues Post by: bubba on January 27, 2009, 06:54:31 am It happens to me every time I clear cookies as well.. This just started for me within the past few days, although I don't always clear my cookies..

When you request a new password from SMC that works for main login but still need to use your old password to get into the discussion groups This is true and thus, one of the repercussions of the software upgrade I performed some time ago to seal a security risk...Just for clarification, I only use Firefox at home and do not experience these issues, so I do not think Internet Explorer or Firefox treat cookies any differently... At work, the network doesn't store any cookies so I have to log in all the time both on the Home Page and the Discussion Areas! I accomplish this without incident. This would lead me to think that perhaps psswrds may get typed in wrong as both systems are CaSe Sensitive... I find it strange that entering the same psswrd in the Discussion Areas isn't recognized until you enter it several times... I would like to help, but I'm not sure where to focus... Still open for discussion... Title: Re: login issues Post by: bubba on January 27, 2009, 10:34:04 am I only use Firefox as well, and don't normally clear my cookies, and if I do, I get rid of all but any of the forums I visit.
Most times I've noticed that I don't even log in to the main page. I couldn't find a spot to change my password on that page. I'll try to trigger this some more when I get a chance and maybe narrow it down a bit more... Title: Re: login issues Post by: Jim on January 27, 2009, 10:41:43 am Quote I couldn't find a spot to change my password on that page Look on the User Menu, click My Profile --> Edit --> Update Your Profile --> Contact InfoMost of should have the same psswrd for both systems. Title: Re: login issues Post by: bubba on January 27, 2009, 11:34:25 am OK.. found it.. thanks.. I'm not going to mess with anything now as it seems to be working for me...
