Title: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: zadd on January 24, 2009, 08:08:57 pm I rewired vendo 63 and thought I had done everything correctly . It runs fine but when the t-stat shuts down the compressor the fan still runs any Idea of what I miss wired ? I'm just trying to clean this machine up and flip it so I took a used power block with a good cord and spliced and replaced the brittle one's . Don't really want to spend the $ 40 to replace it with a new one just to sell it . I didn't replace the t-stat aswell hoping it would work . I did install a 3 in 1 and think I have it wired correctly ?

Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: MoonDawg on January 24, 2009, 09:16:13 pm What Brian is getting at is the fan behind the evaporator is SUPPOSED to run constantly.
Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: johnieG on January 24, 2009, 09:26:34 pm The compressor's (condensor) fan should be wired in parallel with the compressor itself, sounds like you've wired it across the line. (you may have wired it in error across the the two wires that feed 120volts up to the front door harness) however the evaporator fan ( up in the bottle compartment) should run continuosly.
Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: zadd on January 25, 2009, 09:58:57 am I retraced how I wired it and it all checked out . Where I might have do it wrong is the 3-1 switch wiring . The red,blk and white wires are correct , I wired the compressor plug with the two 3-1 blk power wires and also tied in the condenser fan wires with the group as well . The compressor runs and shuts off with the t-stat but the lower fan continues to run . I don't know how that would be possible if the lower fan is wired with the power lead from the compressor . I would think when the compressor shut down so would the fan unless I have the wires wrong from the fan to the 3-1 ?
Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: johnieG on January 25, 2009, 11:22:08 am Then I would suggest that you double-double check it, the fan wont run unless it's across a hot & neutral ( or ground) if you look at the attached diagram, you can see that you only really subsitute the 3-in-1 for the start/run relay & over current (clikit) device. so if the fan's running, it's getting juice from somewhere.
:Oo: Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: zadd on January 25, 2009, 12:41:01 pm I guess I just don't understand that if the compressor shuts down with the 3-1 starter then the compressor fan should as well because they are connected together on the 3-1 . If one shuts down the other should also . The fan is connected directly to the 3-1 just like the compressor lead . I guess I will try it with out the 3-1 and try the original set up with the overload and relay .
Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: zadd on January 25, 2009, 03:19:24 pm Removed the 3-1 start and dug up some old relays and now it works fine . Something must be wrong with the 3 in 1 starter . Thanks :drinking:
Title: Re: rewired a vendo 63 Post by: johnieG on January 25, 2009, 04:07:57 pm Looks like you found the culprit! it must have an internal wiring issue, I'd see about returning it for an exchange or store credit or something.
