Title: vmc 33
Post by: zadd on January 19, 2009, 08:07:36 pm
Tearing down the main door . How does the coin mech gear on the front remove from the drum rotator on the back of the liner  ?  I removed the three screws from the liner and it just spins ? Also what size clutch head screw driver do I need ? I'm sure I can figure it out thought I would ask . Just started the tear down so any advice or tips are appreciated . Thanks

There is a pin in the gear that interacts with the coin mech - remove the pin and the gear slides off allowing you to pull the coupler and shaft through the door.

I believe it's a 5/32" bit...you can usually purchase them at any hardware store.

Remove the pin with a punch.

Same as any other - a pin is behind the crank and mech cover plate. On a 33, you can remove the cover plate screws and finagle the plate over the handle. The pin should be easily visible then.

The best advice I ever received was take lots of pictures....I am not very mechanical, but with my digital camera, I took a picture every time I took something off and it should be no problem to put back together. If you need any pictures, you can email me at "cokecolaman" at comcast dot net. I just took apart a VMC 33 also, and I am sending it to my friend who paints and repairs cars.

I was confused because I was looking at a second vmc 33 I have for parts and it was missing the crank handle but still had the backing plate left from the crank . So I thought the cank handle was seperate from the peice that slids on the shaft . The handle came off with no problem after figuring out where the pin was . Thanks
