Title: Huge collection for sale
Post by: MoonDawg on November 17, 2008, 09:52:16 pm
We have discussed the large collection of one of our great friends here in
California before.
Now he feels it's time to liquidate. Thousands of mint items for sale. Our friend Ray
has just scratched the surface on listing some of his items on E-bay. Machines, signs
clocks, thermometers, picnic coolers, juke boxes, pedal cars, candy machines and so
much more.
If anyone has a special request you could call him at 805 451-2145 after 5:00 PST
or e-mail him from the listing below. I could also help if needed, PM me.

Why did he choose to sell out now. There couldn't be a worse time to try and sell a collection. It seems that nothing is selling on ebay and what is selling is going for about 25% less than it was last year.

Oh wow. I am sorry to hear that. That really sucks. Is it possible to get a list of what he has for sale and what he wants for it? Also where is he located?

Impossible to get a list Josh.....would take weeks and it's in a private warehouse.
It's all stored in San Luis Obispo,  central California coast

I need a drum for my VMC 33 and a front door for the stand on a VMC 27.  I may be asking for too much.

Thanks

There was a drum on eBay recently - did you see that? Maybe a tad high priced at $250, but can't remember if there was a Best Offer option.

I just junked a 27 enclosed stand last week, had some rust though.
This guy will have no parts, sorry.. only restored stuff he has bought from us in the past.
He has teardrop speakers and Dr Pepper stuff, probably a Grappette picnic
cooler and signs too.
His e-bay buyer name was "Soda Man"......Not just Coke but he collected all soda
brands

This will be fun to watch, too bad the timing is good for him on the selling front , but from the looks of it , he's not hurting too bad for cash? He'll still get some nice money for all of this stuff, and will also provide us Collectors a chance at some nice items..

Gee.. wonder if he has any airline picnic coolers.... hmmmmmm

You meant to say timing is NOT good, correct?  Bad for him......good for us.

However both juke boxes sold today, one buyer was from Holland.  :wow:

Speaking of airline coolers, I am buying a Coke machine from a guy this weekend
who also has 6 original airline coolers and 6 six-pac coolers for sale. I'm paying
$300 for the complete Glasco slider....didn't ask what he wants for the coolers.
If reasonable I could pick some up for members, but how much should I offer?

I'd be interested in a decent original... Don't really want a restored one, just a nice one with some character and no rust..
I'd like to stay under 150 for one? if possible.... if you can pick on up, let me know Glen...

Thanks
John

Funny.. everything I bid on sells..... to the other bidder :veryangry: The only stuff I don't see selling..... :glare: is mine!

I will be going up to see Mike in the next week or so to take some more pictures for e-bay auctions. If anybody wants something please e-mail me your wish list. I will take pictures of the item if he has it and e-mail it to you with a price. That easy;).

I have known Mike for about 15 years now as I have restored several machines for him and he is a great guy. He is not in any way hurting for money and this is not a fire sale by any means. After years of collecting I think he saw what he created and just wants to downsize. I think pretty much the entire collection is for sale. I also think he sees that selling is also fun;).

I'm glad he has chosen me to help him sell his collection because I love to be around this stuff and have always enjoyed selling.

Collection is quite massive. The best part about it is that he has a little bit of everything, ok, a lot of everything. As for pricing for what I have seen I would say pricing if fair. I wouldn't say you can buy something to resell it to make a profit but for the most part it looks like everything would be sold for a fair price. I would just say ask about what you collect and hopefully it will work out good for all.

He has many upright soda machines as well as sliders. Many jukeboxes, picnic coolers, signs, pedal cars, double bubble clocks, thermometers, syrup dispensers, and some other very cool stuff.

Check your bank account, see what you would like to ad to your collection and the most important thing, ask your wife how many things you can buy.

E-mail me your wish list. Ray.
