Title: V-63 bottle stack
Post by: metalman on November 14, 2008, 07:22:58 pm
Hi guy's,
I've completely gutted and repainted my V-63. All is well thus far but I'm relucted to break open the bottle stacker! nasty rust in tight spots and I've painted everything else. It's probably going to look out of place without a disassemble paint job.

Any suggestions or Advise before I open it up?

Welcome to the site Metalman,
We all have had this problem starting out on our first machine should we take that bottle rack apart or just leave it  :upside:  ?
One thing you can do is use your camera and take some pictures of the rack first ,
then as you remove a part take a picture and take some tape and tag that part
and for any nuts or small screws put them into a ziplock bag and tag that bag.

Plus you have all of us, and there is a lot of knowledge here to help you out of just about any problems.

Pat

Metalman,

Welcome here!  I understand your reluctance about tackling the bottle stack.  However, it's not as hard at it may seem.  As others have stated, pictures are a necessity.  I also make sketches, so I can write notes to myself on how something fits, etc.  Be VERY careful with the springs, as they can be a little fragile.  Also, we've all faced the problem of rusty Phillips head screws.  A great solution for those is to use a Dremel to cut a slot in the top of the screw and use a flat tip.

Thanks for the advise guys!

In the beginning, I was only going to touch up paint but found this site and got the bug.
you'all have got me this far.

Sooooo. I'm going in on the bottler stacker with a new battery in the camera.
