Title: Ideal Pepsi Slider
Post by: Skeleton Man on October 13, 2008, 01:04:20 pm
Found a slider not far from me. I enquired and it's complete with rack and gate (is that what you call the bit the bottles pass through?). The only thing is the compressor is shot. They say it's siezed.

Is it difficult/expensive to get a new compressor ? Is it possible to get them repaired ?

What is the machine worth in this condition ? (price is listed as best offer)

Hi Chris,
It looks to be an Ideal 400M, the "needs a lot of work"  statement scares me. Parts would be  very hard to come by, but if the rack, coin box  and  cap catcher  are there, it's a moot point.
The cap catcher is dented, and it looks like the corned is dinged,  but  this could be fixed.  Some more pictures  of the  other sides  would  have ben helpful.
I'd pass, it's a big beastie,  the compressor, if it had to be replaced would be a bear to locate a replacement. Figure a couple hundred for repairs.

HEAVY!!!!
I'd wait till a 55 comes along and you wouldn't have to figure in the cost of the chiropractor into the purchase price!

Same machine, still heavy.. Good for the parts, coin mech 130-150,  cap catcher 50? might have the bottle flap? worth 20 bucks or so? and I've heard the slider rack can be cut down to fit a 55, haven't tried it yet..
I'd still hold out for a 55

I'll hold out then. Looking for a complete or near complete slider to keep for myself. I never knew they were that heavy.. I was picturing under 100lbs..

The pics are  an Ideal 400,  a lot bigger than an Ideal 55. I can tell you  me and a firend easily loaded an Ideal 55 in a Chevy S10 pickup ( it helped  they have a lower bed  than a full size pickup) and  moved it easily  using a dolley
You'll find one. I remember a time when you  didn't think a  Cavalier would come your way, and   you have a pair

I didn't put an offer on the pepsi slider, but just for the hell of it I asked how much for the coke one.

Their reponse: "I am looking for 1500.00"
My reply: "LMAO.. you'll be a looking for a while.."

Why do people think that big heavy machines are worth more ?

Yes kilroy, I never thought I'd own a cav.. I was really looking for a V63 but found both the cavs by accident. I would trade both of them and my left arm for a queen anne though.
