Title: FREE is good but....
Post by: pinballdude on October 05, 2008, 10:59:20 pm
Going to pick up a glasco Coke slider. It is complete but is starting to pit pretty bad.
Better to find a new section(end where loading door is) or try auto body friend?
Would hate to have to paint over fishtail logo. There may be other bad spots, I haven't really examined it yet. 20 years in a damp basement. Coin mech and racks are there.
And what do you use to crank open the loading door?
Thanks for advice.
Terry

Free is good... the machine can easily be restored... dont' worry about painting over the logo, I have reproduction vinyl decals you can put on after the new paint job, they are exact to the original in every way.

what size hex is needed to open the door?
AND, is there any universal coin box key or will I
need to drill  the lock?

You only need a 3/8" allen wrench to open the loading door and no such luck
on a universal key. Better get out the drill.  :darn:

Funtronics sells a replacement lock for the coin door. SIgnGuy is right that sliders can be restored quite easily and they look great when done. Don't worry about the painted logo. Go with vinyla nd it will look great. Here is a before and after of a glasco I did a while back.

Oh man that looks beautiful!!!
Love the small machines.
Any instructions you can give a complete amateur?
I can do OK cleaning and polishing. Its the body work/paint
that I can't do.
My first 2 machines from over 20 years ago, I had the local
bottler repaint. No bodywrk needed. The Vendolator 33 turned out nice.
The Vendo 23 was off on the red. Closer to and orange/red. Their
signpainter did the logos.
Paid too much for a Victor 4 door, no room for it.
Wife found a Beverage-Air for $75 and gave it to me for Xmas a few years ago.
Got a 70s Cavalier w wood grain out back and someone wants to get rid of
a Westinghouse 10 case master but doesn't want to give a price.
I hate that. Sez if he can't sell, he'll haul off for scrap. I wanna offer $25-50
but don't wanna sound cheap. 'sides you shoulds seen wife's scowl
when I told her about the free machine.
Now when will someone gimme a FREE pinball machine!!!
