Title: Cav 64 cooling
Post by: Skeleton Man on September 29, 2008, 08:59:15 pm
Hi guys,

How cold should a later model (CSS-8-64J) Cav-64 get ? The best I can get is between 0 and -1C with the thermostat bypassed (this is after like an hour).

If I connect the thermostat and set it on max, it only cools to about 3 or 4C, so I know this needs replacing.

I thought it should get a lot colder than that.. I was picturing -5C with thermostat on max.

All the coils have a nice thin layer of frost, as does the bulb thing at the start of the line just before the coils (forgot what it's called). Does this sound like it's cooling ok or is it undercharged ?

I'd rather not pay to have it recharged if I don't have to.

Chris

I have a USS 8 64 and it runs at about 38 degrees F with the thermostat set on 1.  I would be afraid to crank it up to 10.  Wouldn't want to clean up all the glass and pop!
