Title: Need advice
Post by: jasmine64 on September 19, 2008, 10:13:32 am
ok you guys know my real job is my bakery. Soda machine have take a back seat lately.

Ok, I purchased an airbrush machine, havent mastered it yet but I want to know is there a card table size "box" I can build ( yep I will build it since hubby is too busy) to prevent all the spray from getting on evreything in the shop.

I airburshed a hot wheels cake last week and I'm still finding royal blue residue on stuff.

I hope someday the ojt with this airbrush will come in handy for my other soda related  projects.

I would just go buy a large box like a 30"x30"x30" box and cut out half of the top and one side.

Go out and buy a new appliance, then you can use the box

Seriously, you had the best idea....a folding card table set up with
a tablecloth draped over it to confine the overspray.

Would like to see a picture of your next project.

I knew I should have saved that freezer box.  :darn:

I want something I can take apart and store. Possibly pvc pipe and joints and drape that with a cover........

OK the first Idea I had is kina silly but it folds up easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy and is large
Ebay  150290982778   Searching Playhut

Second Idea is Ebay  300258713134 its smaller so maybe not large enough

or this one 330270851605 not sure but if you sliced the fabric on one side you could essentially set it " over a cake" and then not have to " place a cake inside"

Just some ideas

When I was a kid I was REALLY into building model cars. When I wasn't tinkering in the garage with my dad with the real ones I was in the basement building the small ones. I did all of my painting with an airbrush. My dad set me up with a Mini spray booth for my painting since I was spraying single stage enamel auto paint in the basement you can imagine that it smelled really bad in the house and the overspray was terrible without the booth. What he did was make a 4 foot box on legs out of plywood that only had a bottom, back and two sides. The front was open and the top had an oven hood. He installed a bathroom fan in the hood and used the flexible pipe they use for bathroom fans to duct the spray outside the house. It really worked great.  The fan sucked all of the overspray and smell outside the house. I used that for years. I showed my model cars at the car shows that we showed our classic cars at. I was always the only kid that actually used automotive paint instead of spray paint. I hope this may help. It was an easy and cheap but effective solution.

Jaz. I think Josh just gave you the best idea on how to do it.
And we got to see some of these cakes some time  :tounge:.

In the meantime... post some pics of that place... we have never seen the finished building or these cakes?.... At college we had a set up like Josh spoke of for adhesive spray mount and other clear coat sprays for paintings and drawings.....a oven hood and up and out it all went....

Best of luck! :happydrinkers:

Thought I posted pics of the finished building.
I know I did during the building phase.

I'll search my pics and see if I have them on this computer or the one daughter destroyed with a virus from limewire.  :darn:

If they were on there they are gone.
