How much did that run you? :tounge: Seriously - Congratulations! Now you have to find another because you will miss it! So what was the offer that could not be refused? Just curious what a restored Victor Cooler Grill is going for these days. Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: mrsoda on September 09, 2008, 01:13:01 pm lets just say over 50 grand, could not refuse the offer
Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: Kilroy on September 09, 2008, 01:21:54 pm For two grand I'd sell my sister. 8)
Congrats and welcome back. As cool as the Victor Grill is (and boy is it) the free space just means you can move more cool stuff in it's spot. Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: Larry on September 09, 2008, 01:56:31 pm I guess I can stop playing the lottery, the grill is gone.
Do you have any pics of the four machines you bought? Kilroy, what does your sister look like? What is the trade in value for a wife, vintage 1965? :Oo: Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: MoonDawg on September 09, 2008, 02:27:51 pm lets just say over 50 grand, could not refuse the offer Just about fell off my chair :jawdrop: That's double what my guess would have been, and has to be a world record price for a Coke machine. It sure was nice. Way to go Jeff :happydrinkers: Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: Pat Pixley on September 09, 2008, 02:31:12 pm Well Congrat's Jeff it has to be kinda a great feeling to have something like that and
to be able to sell it for that amount $$,$$$.00 :tounge: and also a sad feeling to watch it go knowing that there are only a few left , and you sold one of the best restored one out there . Plus now knowing Kilroy would have traded his sister for that victor Cooler it has to be a gut wrencher .  Pat Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: Pat Pixley on September 09, 2008, 02:51:41 pm Hey Jeff could you post a photo of that Victor Cooler so that some
of the new member who may not have a copy of Jeff Walters book or may not have a idea what one looks like can see what a restored one looks like . And Kilroy maybe you should post a picture of your sister so Jeff can see what he missed out on . Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: GreginNM on September 09, 2008, 02:55:52 pm Congrats, Jeff! Wow, that's great! I'm sure you will miss it, but not too badly!
I guess it's time to pull all of my Victor grillers out of the garage and finish cleaning them up!! :Oo: :tounge: Wow, got to lay off the root beer!!! BTW, is it the same griller that Curtis tried to pass off as the excellent deal up in MI the other week??? That was a great picture! Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: bubba on September 09, 2008, 03:30:28 pm BTW, is it the same griller that Curtis tried to pass off as the excellent deal up in MI the other week??? Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: TomFromJersey on September 09, 2008, 07:40:00 pm And very heavy, especially when it drops on your finger. I could get hurt walking out a door. BTW....how many guys here have wrapped up their car keys inside a soda machine???
Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 09, 2008, 08:27:07 pm Ok, I will admit, when we had the Victor Kooler Grill all packed up , air tight. I went to get my truck and NO! keys, after looking for about 20 min. Tom, says you sure you didn't wrap them up in the machine, O-----%$#&@ Unwrap and guess where they were, inside the Kooler Grill. But Tom, did get a chance to feel the weight of the Kooler Grill, on his finger. Hope your finger is doing better Tom and a big thanks to Tom for all his help. When I got it home, it took 5 guys to get it off my truck and on to my trailer. I will send a picture of the Kooler Grill in it's new home. Thanks Curtis, Memory Lane Restorations

That machine has got to be the coolest set up ever assembled! Truly a work of art! :wow: Should have been called the Victor Koolest Grill! Thanks for sharing the pictures as that is probably about as close as I will ever come to one! :happydrinkers: Beyond the Grill--that is an awesome collection of stuff--the only thing I don't see is a nice (memorylane restored) Stoner candy machine! Tim Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: collecture on September 09, 2008, 10:57:07 pm Absolutely Kool! Kind of like seeing a mountain lion in the wild...most people will live their whole life not seeing one (I haven't yet).
Did this guy have all the plumbing, etc. set up to use it or is it strictly a display item for him? Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: SIGNGUY on September 09, 2008, 11:17:19 pm Dang. I was going to offer 49k for it, but got beat out again!!! :darn:
Curtis or Jeff, can you share any more of the story on this one... was somebody just hounding you curtis to find him one and you helped the new buyer find Jeff so they could negotiate or what and how much can you tell us? is the machine still on the east coast? assuming so if you had Tom help you move it? Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: davethebirdman on September 10, 2008, 01:22:07 am How about getting the guy that bought it to join the group.... And Jeff, we don't here enough from you too... Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 10, 2008, 07:28:00 am This was a customer of mine not more than 2 hours from my house, he saw photos of the Grill and wanted it, I called Jeff and put the deal togather and both men are happy campers. Now remember, Jeff and my other customer have never met and only talked one time and that was when I was at Jeff's house picking up the machine. I could have left the country for a great vacation????? But both of these guys are the best of the best and not to mention, they have to much money and would have hunted me down and put me in river with a new pair of shoes. Alot of trust has been built with both of these guys. Anyone out there dealing with Jeff, he is a man of his word!!!! A true friend. You won't find a nicer, more kind hearted person than Jeff and his wife, two of the best people I know. If you think his soda collection is nice, you should see Jeffs Air Meter collection, WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!

Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: SIGNGUY on September 10, 2008, 11:42:11 am WOW,
SImply amazing collection.. I didn't know he had gas/oil stuff too... simply amazing... is Jeff looking to adopt a son or nephew! I'm open... I'd love one of those round base air meters like the richfield.. very cool! Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 10, 2008, 12:14:27 pm Your looking at 9K and 15K for a drum Air Scale restored the way Jeff likes things, 100% MINT. Now I didn't restore any of his gas items but I did find and pick up most of the gas items for him. You guys don't even want to know how much Jeff has in the gas items alone. Lets just say, New House!
Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 10, 2008, 12:28:04 pm Jeff's new toy!

Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: pinballdude on September 10, 2008, 10:48:44 pm are there any numbers as to how many were manufactured?
Maybe estimates? Approx production dates? Original cost? Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 11, 2008, 06:01:23 am There were only 50 made and to date only 8 have been found and 4 have been restored. They were Mfg. in my home town (Hagerstown, MD) about 2 miles away at the old Victor plant. I have been through every Sq. inch of that building, even up in the lofts, nothing left. Theres a Lumber Yard there now. Across the street, theres an old RC Cola plant and in the concrete floof there is a steel plate and in the hole in the floor is where they dumped all the old RC Cola bottles. There must be a million old bottles in there.

Is that floor or roof??? I'm guessing that it is 'floor'. In the Waco DP Museum, they had a well inside the plant and they used the water from the well to make the DP. When the well dried up, they started throwing the old bottles down it. It is all part of the museum tour. I guess a lot of the old bottling plants used well water located on property. Anybody know for sure or seen similar things in old bottling plants? Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: memorylane on September 11, 2008, 01:46:26 pm Thats what this guy said it used to be, Thats cool to know.

Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: SIGNGUY on September 12, 2008, 02:50:57 pm I asked my Dad about my Grandpa's bottling plant he had in town and he said he too remembered a well that they used for water for bottling until the 70's.
I then asked if they ever use to throw stuff down the well, and he said actually yes. the well was very large and the opening very large so they use to throw those old vending machines down there to fill it up. He said they had these old Hot dog maker coolers, a few other machines that would take the bottle caps off the bottles and a bunch of Yellow Machines with the workds RC Cola on top or something like that!... all down the hole.. :oh: I'm going to get my shovel! Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: MoonDawg on September 12, 2008, 04:05:31 pm He said they had these old Hot dog maker coolers, a few other machines that would take the bottle caps off the bottles and a bunch of Yellow Machines with the workds RC Cola on top Stop...U're killin' me :darn: LOL Title: Re: victor hot dog griller Post by: sodaworks on September 12, 2008, 04:28:30 pm
