Title: Victor Vendorama
Post by: loman4ec on August 31, 2008, 09:28:32 pm
I have a 5 cent Victor Vendorama gumball machine here in Singapore and I am thinking about getting rid of it. It is a nice complete working machine. I repainted it last year and I brought it here thinking I would use it. Well I am trying to stay away from sweets and gum is against the law in Singapore so I think I may bring it back with me next week when I come home to visit. It is really nice however I would not say it is a proper 100% restoration but it looks nice. The globe is in great condition. It is a little yellowed but not bad. My question is what do you all think this may be worth? I know it is not the most desirable machine out there but they are cool looking. There are a few on ebay now but they are asking a small fortune. Anyone interested in a gumball machine that has traveled around the world?

Yep chewing gum is banned from the country. Singapore is very strict. You are aloud to bring in small amounts for personal consumption but nothing more than a few packs. If I brought enough gum to fill a machine they would take it for sure. But the upside is you will never get gum stuck to you shoes in this country.  The story says that the prime minister's nephew was playing in his office and had put gum on the ministers desk chair and when he sat down it stuck to his pants. It made him so angry that he banned chewing gum from the country. I don't know how true that is but it sounds like something that would happen here.
