Title: Vendo 44
Post by: bmw90w on August 12, 2008, 04:57:26 pm
Hello I found a vendo 44 that someone turned into a cooler. It is missing the coin door, rack etc. the guy actually covered the hole on the outside cabinet as well. I was wondering if it was a 5 or 10 cent machine. he has a 10 cent decal on it.Also any chance of finding parts? What would you guys offer. Otherwise it is in perfect shape. Its been painted, new insulation etc etc. Thanks for your help.

Coin door is reproduced, not sure about finding a coin mech or rack however... that could be the tricky part.
As far as if it was 5 or 10 cents, that all depends on what the mech was, as it could have been either..
what does the guy want for it?

The coin door, Coin mech, and bottle/can mech are all reproduced but are very pricey. The coin mech is made for dimes only and does not look original but works it costs like $375 I think. The vend mech is modified to work with bottles or cans and are really nice looking but pricey. In all it depends on what they are asking for it. A good complete machine is pretty pricey so if the cabinet is cheep you may be able to complete it for less than buying a complete machine.

Even if he gave it to you for free, if you wanted to make a complete coin operated vending machine, not just have a refrigerated cooler.. you would be better off to let him keep that 44 shell, and pay the $1500 to $2500 for a complete machine, especially if you are not familliar with finding all the parts.
    <<  Been there.........done that!

$550 for a 44 shell is not a good buy at all - there are better deals out there.  Now $1600 for the machine Ken posted is a much better deal.  Other than someone went paint happy - most of the machine looks complete.

Im going to try to jump on this. To me it does look complete though isnt it? Is the vmc just as popular as the regular vendo 44? Thanks for finding that guys.

Can't tell in the picture if the chrome bezels ( bottle slot,, conn door,  coin return etc) are missing or painted  over.
Replacements are readily available, and this looks like a better deal than that shell.

The 44's are so similar, I don't think price or desirability wise, there is much  of a difference, and I wouldn't pass on either one.

The 44 only vends the 8 oz bottles,  which is a turn off for  a lot of people.

Its not hard to drill the holes in the coin door and buy a repop chrome coin bezel. It would then be a Vendo. You can even buy a Vendo ID plate from Funtronics. I wouldn't do it to resell but if it is for yourself why not.

BMW90,
There have been a few discussions  in earlier threads on shippers,   Take a look  for recommendations.

I've never had a problem with  NAVL,  use them  most of thie time shipping jukeboxes cross country.

I have used NAVL many times and never had any problems. Just make both the pickup and drop off location are accessible by 18 wheeler. They Charge additional for small truck service. Someone here also used a trucking broker that shipped cheep. I forgot who it was???

I have used NAVL many times with no problems to speak of. I suspect that they dented the main door on a couple of machines by winching their straps around the coin door instead of above the coin door. That would be my only complaint, but it is hard to say whether they did it or not.

I actually am in the same boat you are with my Vendo 44 being a shell as well. However, I paid $250 for mine so I'd use that as a reference as 500 is to much. The thing about finding a complete machine for $1500 or whatever it is, is that yes you have all the parts, but more than likely your going to have to send those to the plate shop so add that to the cost of the machine. The reason why the repos are pricey is because they don't sell alot of them and there hard to find parts. So I'd call up a repo parts dealer and see if they can do any better on them and see if they can work out a package deal or somethin, its worth a shot. In the end youll still be stuck with an another empty shell.
