Title: uss 64 bottle rack Post by: boilerman on June 30, 2008, 01:59:18 am I bought my 1st machine a few weeks ago a uss 64. It is running but the compressor is loud....($60.00)
I'm in the process of fixing it up. The thing was paint over with a brush at one time (red/white) the shell only has a few minor dents and dings the bottle door glass was cracked,the seals are shot.It was set up for no money free drinks. the coin mech was disconnected. Not sure if it works but will cross that bridge later. My question is.... I pulled the bottle rack out. It was very rusty and pitted but worked. there was a chain that went from the bottom to the top. The bottom was still connected but the top was missing its master link so it was sitting on the bottom of the rack. What was it for and how did it snake its was around the bottle selectors? I did a quick search and couldn't find the thread... I'm sure he still has the photos..

Not to worry boilerman here is a shot of how the chain snakes under the can/bottle release cams. The chain is basically the reset for the rack when a product has been vended.
The top of the chain is held in place by a sheetmetal link and spring. The link is 1" or so long, maybe it is still somewhere in your cabinet. I'll need to get the rack out in decent light for a picture of that assembly. If you are used to taking things apart and back again this isn't that hard. I used muffin pans labeled what went where. New springs that are close can be had at any hardware store. If you can find another machine with a clean rack for a decent price that will save hours of time. Let me know if you have any questions. it was taken apart cleaned and painted and put back together last week. I just wasn't sure how the chain went because it was already disconnected when I started. My rack doen't have the cradle the chain sets in. I'll have to post a picture of mine later but if you have a bigger on close up pic to see better would help alot. The rack wasn't that hard take alot of pictures if you plan on waiting a long time before you put back together. I learned the hard way rewiring a EM pinball machine again thanks for you help with many more questions to come |
