Title: Cavalier c 51 Enlarge Cabinet for 12 oz
Post by: europorsche914 on June 12, 2008, 09:09:00 pm
Hi I realize the largest bottle for a c 51 was the 8 oz but i read that some machines were modified to accept pepsi bottles (apparently the pepsi bottles are longer (about 8-3/4") than coke bottles (about 7-3/4")). I took some measurements and a 12 oz is 9" by 2-3/8" dia so the only problem is the length. What can be done to modify the machine to fit these larger bottles?

Somebody on this site had a C-51 that had been modified for the Pepsi Bottles (BrianB??, 90grad??).
As I recall, the main door liner was recessed allowing the larger bottles in the belt - something with the bottle door too I think.
Maybe they'll chime in here!

Wasn't me.  I have Yoo-Hoo in mine.  Those bottles were shorter than the Coke bottles, so I cut some 2" PVC spacers (about .75-1" thick) and used them as spacers behind the bottles.

I restored the C-51 (back to coke) that was converted to Pepsi.  There were two main differences.  The  inside door recessed  3/4 of an inch and they used a spacer on the bottle door. This accomadated the longer 10 oz pepsi bottles. Here are some pics.

I just bought a C-51 that was converted to a Pepsi machine at some time during its life. I thought that was a strange thing to do but I see now that it happened regurlarly. I knew some of the other machines were pirated, I just didn't expect this model to suffer this insult from the two warring companies.

I am looking at replacing my cabinet door with an original Coca Cola C-51 door and returning the machine to its former glory.

Anyway. excellent thread, I have learned alot. Thanks guys
