Title: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 26, 2008, 07:29:21 pm I think I got a pretty good deal on this machine, picked up a ideal 35 for $20 bucks today. The machine looks much rougher than it really is, body is good lots of paint scrapes, looks like it was originally a Squirt machine then someone painted it as Pepsi. Seller had it listed on ebay under an odd title, I really didn't need another machine but couldn't pass this up. Someone had cut the cord on the machine but I tested the compressor by plugging it up directly and sure enough it cooled down and started frosting on the inside. Any idea what these are worth?
Thanks-David Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 26, 2008, 07:32:35 pm Couple Pictures

Nice find ! ! ! Does it have the vending rack...? Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 26, 2008, 09:57:50 pm Jim, Unfortunately it doesn't have the rack, but overall I think it was a good deal.
Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: loman4ec on May 27, 2008, 02:10:58 am I think it was a great deal! I like the ideal sliders a lot and I personally like them best without the rack. You can use them for anything and they are small in size especially the 35. My opinion would be to buy a gutted coin mech housing and strip and repaint the machine and you will have a nice functional machine.

It'll clean up nicely... last one I bought I paid 300 for with coin mech. Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 10, 2009, 08:25:20 pm Here is a update on this ideal 35 I purchased last year for $20. It turned out pretty good, not perfect but nice compared to the original condition. This one took a long time, in the past I finish machines in 2-3 months, this one took over a year since I couldn't fine time to work on it.
I have a 85 rack I was thinking about cutting down, But I think I might get more use out of this without a rack. Thanks-David Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 10, 2009, 08:25:50 pm another photo
Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: SIGNGUY on May 10, 2009, 08:28:58 pm Looks great David,
I like the ideal coolers 35 or 55's , and like Josh said ,without the rack they are great multiuse machine for everyday use... I have one running on the back porch right now, keeps all the beer and pop cold and everyone enjoys using it , plusit just looks great! It does look nice, and just under one year. Also, just in time for summer. :happydrinkers: Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: Pat Pixley on May 10, 2009, 09:31:49 pm Dave, that looks sweet very nice job 8) and for $20 what a deal

brought back from the dead. Since you have aquired the coin mech. and cap catcher for the "complete look", you might consider cutting down the 85 rack for it before you move on to your next project. Even if you don't plan on using the rack....the value of your machine will increase by over $1000.00. A 35 without a rack is just too similar to the reproduced Westinghouse Jr reach-in coolers that have flooded the market the last few years. Just my opinion. Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: David D on May 11, 2009, 07:51:06 pm Guys thanks for the compliments, now I just have to find a place to put this machine other than the garage.
Glen, I agree with you about the rack, I probably won't use it but it would be nice to have for the machine. The 85 rack seems so much larger than the 35, once I cut it down there won't be much left. I think there was a post about cutting a 85 rack to fit a 35 awhile back. Has anyone done this? and how difficult was it? Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: MoonDawg on May 11, 2009, 08:59:52 pm As long as the slider bars are spaced equally, the bottles will slide through fine.
I reduced a 55 rack to a 35...main requirement is to unweld and move the support bar to the left to accomodate a 35 rather than the longer rack, and of course round the left hand corners to fit the 35 liner. Look up the old post, pictures will help you a lot. Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: Kapri on May 15, 2009, 11:04:56 am That looks great. Wish we could find stuff like that in England!

Title: Re: Ideal 35 for $20 Post by: davethebirdman on May 16, 2009, 12:51:19 pm Go for it... They do come up from time to time on Ebay... Non coin operated...
There was a slider, an embossed Pepsi that was on last year in Cornwall but just couldn't justify going to pick it up... Kick myself every now and again... (Sorry guys, plse excuse the English contingent talking amongst themselves) |
