Post by: johnieG on April 27, 2008, 07:09:05 pm It probably was a 5-cent deposit per bottle sticker/label, these were common on machines in areas like laundry mats & others where they'd expect you to leave the bottle behind after drinking it, otherwise, they'd be charge for the missing empty. it was likely removed whenthe deposit charge went up to 10-cents, or they (Coke) switched to non-returnable/rfillable bottles ( called one-way bottles) which you didn't paya deposit on in the first place.
