Title: My Finds of the Week
Post by: dr galaga on April 12, 2008, 05:43:36 pm
Not exactly soda related.  My neighbor passed away a few weeks ago.  I have been helping the family clear some of the stuff out of the house.  I told them that I collect beer and soda items.
The other day I got an Indy 500 Strohs sign, some full beer cans, and a plastic Coke 16 oz. 8-pack carrier (sorry, no pics of this).

WI/MN people: do they still make Schmidt beer?  BTW: they are bringing Schlitz back out in glass bottles in the Chicago area this year.

The helmet sign is really nice.  I have never seen one like that.  I also collect Griesedieck Brothers Beer Advertising.  Did they have any of that in the basement..

Isn't that the beer that Chis Farley and Adam Sandler spoofed on SNL around the empty pool that magically came to life.

"Schmidt's beer - when you know your gay!"

That was when SNL was really funny.  Schmitts was the skit.

Wow, didn't know about that skit!

The helmet is not a light up (I was hoping...)  It was in the garage for the past 30+ years, so it took some cleaning to get it white again.  It has a cardboard back, so I couldn't just soak it.
I think this stuff is about it for the beer collectibles.  He was in to cars (He used to have 4 Corvettes) which is why he had the helmet and Schmidt can.  His ex-wife was a Packers fan, which is why he had the 6-pack of Packers Miller Lite.
