Title: VMC44 Coin Mech
Post by: collecture on March 25, 2008, 09:11:03 am
I got an original VMC44 Coin mech and was wondering a couple of things.
I know the shaft is about 3/4" longer than the 56/81D/110 shaft.

There are two 1/8" pin holes on the rear of the shaft -
One is on a diagonal near the end of the shaft - like 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock.
The other is on the horizontal about the location of the 56/81D/110 pin hole.
Are both of these holes used on the VMC44 or V44?
I have never seen a 44 in person, so I do not know how the linkage, etc. mount to the shaft.
I would like to know in case I ever have to modify a 56/81D shaft into a 44 shaft for somebody.
Can somebody post a pic of the 44 linkage/shaft connection?

Thanks Josh!
In your pic, it looks like the linkage is attached with pin sticking in from the upper right (1 o'clock) position. That would be consistent with the pin hole on my mech.
Can you remember whether the pin was inserted on a diagonal? Is there only one pin used?

I am guessing that NRI just had all possible pin holes drilled on their shafts and just cut and assembled them for each specific mech - kind of like the SD mech shafts have the holes drilled for a SD change-giver mech, but assembled for a straight sale mech.
