Title: Vendo Decapper...Are they hard to find?
Post by: Seven181 on March 20, 2008, 08:32:20 pm
Is the Vendo Decapper a hard machine to find? Not sure I have ever seen one in person?

HA! I bet it would take more than that! I was just curious. They are cool, but rare and never turn up.

From what i heard, there are only 5 or 6 known to exist, and I think under 20 ever made..
I know a guy who had two of them at one point, found them both in NorthDakota years ago..
I know one sold to Jeff Walters way back when, and I think that since sold to someone else..
the other not sure where he sold that ... this was like 15 years ago or so...
But he said they where amazing to watch operate.. both of them that he had where fully functional and original condition. I've seen photos (polaroids) of one of them a few months ago.
Good luck on the quest... that could be a lifelong search and a spendy one.. but a guy's gotta have wish list!

My dream is to find an RC 81. I have two friends that have them. I really do like Rc better than any other soda. It is still really common in Ohio but when I first moved to Singapore I really missed it. When I moved to Thailand I was shocked to find Rc Cola to be common. It was great but now that I am back in Singapore I miss it again. RC i think is a good median between Coke and Pepsi.

I have always liked RC better than Coke or Pepsi. I worked for Dr Pepper / 7UP for 15 years. RC is owned by Cadbury, which is who I worked for. A great soda, but they do not advertise it enough. They did not want to piss Coke and Pepsi off, because in parts of the country either Coke or Pepsi distribute Dr Pepper, from approval of Cadbury. Cadbury did not want to advertise RC, as to not piss of the big boys! Also, I know were a guy has an RC 81 in IN, but not sure he would ever sell it. He might for the right price.

They are two brothers, they run a shop there. I think they are the Bayli brothers. I will have to check that spelling on the last name. Nice guys.
