That is debatable. I don't know if there is just one.. depends on your opinion.

Great question and welcome to the board! Some of the top machines to find in a barn or whatever and get for next to nothing would be:

Vendo De-Capper. Prototype that removed the cap before delivering the bottle. 4 known examples?

Victor Kooler Grill. Hot dog stand and dry cooler. Arched Coca Cola sign. 6 known examples?

VMC Royal Crown Cola 81. The hard one to find to complete a collection of 81's. Vendo A,B maybe C and D plus VMC 7-Up, DP, and RC. 200 made maybe 50 left?

Icy-O countertop. Don't know how many made or are left.

Cup dispensors and the Vendo Ice Cream, Milk and Hot food are great machines with few complete working examples.

I think Jim has info for all of these machines in the Soda Machines area of the board.

Hope some of the more experianced collectors correct any errors or omissions from the list.

aspbear has put it nicely as well...

Creighton has covered the lot; however, I might add a Siphonmix 5A (http://soda-machines.com/content/view/207/14/), perhaps a Cavalier C-102 (http://soda-machines.com/content/view/231/14/) also...

I assumed that there was a V81C but don't think I have ever heard mention of it or seen a picture of it...

How did it differ from the B or the D.

Dave,
Not sure a verified "C" has ever been found. Others will correct if I'm wrong. Hence the "maybe"

"C" Model 81s do exist, I was not a believer myself but a few on the board have proved their existance. All Red like a "A" model, large lettering like a "B" model.

I saw and touched, had to do that, an 81c at the Chicagoland show a few years ago.  The vendo plate had vendo81c stamped on it.  Pretty cool, but I'd rather have an 81B.

'Sleepwalk' had an 81C model up for auction a year or so ago - wanted an extreme amount for it and don't think it sold. Nice pics and clearly said 81C on the plate

Tom - I remember now... He was asking something like $15000 for it.

That sounds like something Sleepwalk would do. It was probably a restored 81B pained red with a new Vendo Plate stamped with a C

No - he had not restored it.

It was a unrestored machine that was later repainted with the two tone paint, no stainless trim, Indeed a real C model his price was around $5,500.00

For me, the "holy grail" would be a cheesed-off wife (not mine) wanting to sell her soon to be ex-husband's Smithsonian-level machine collection to me for $1 just to get even. :hopefull:

Well, I'd take a nice all-red 81A or 110 that I could afford.
